Day 63 – 19 March 2020
After some porridge and hot chocolate we were on the road for 0630, getting in the first miles of the day. We saw hyenas this morning which was quite wonderful, but even this sight didn’t do much to ease the pain of the running, which is increasingly hard. Added to this is the anxiety I’m feeling when running in such close proximity to wild animals. It doesn’t always feel safe, and I’m keenly aware that I’m potentially easy prey for these animals whose natural habitat I’m running through. It’s a beautiful region – a national park – and we managed 30 miles today. We set up camp at a small settlement this evening, next to a hospital. Brian cooked us some tasty sardines and we had another hot chocolate before and early night.
