Day 27 – 12 February 2020
We managed 15 miles first thing to checkpoint one, and today was relatively uneventful, which was much appreciated after recent events. We did have an interesting encounter though – we met a man who’s cycling the length of Africa! We’d actually seen him yesterday but hadn’t spoken to him. He’s from Norwich so it was great to see someone from home attempting a challenge in the same way I am. Today was quite hot but the running was good and we clocked a total of 36 miles. A man close to the final checkpoint let us camp in his garden for a small fee which felt like a good deal for both parties. Unfortunately, we’ve ended up with small holes in the bottom of our tent as we pitched where he’d cut lots of trees down and they punctured the ground sheet – frustrating!
